10% of every shirt you purchase helps Minnesota Computers for Schools provide technology access for lifelong learning.

When you’re in a city famous for a particular food or cuisine, it can be overwhelming when trying to decide where to get the BEST of that specialty food. Luckily for you, there are a few companies in Chicago who will take you around to some of the best pizza places in the city.

Chicago Pizza Tours stuck out to me because they take you to different neighborhoods and allow you to sample a variety of pizzas (they even stop at Italian Fiesta – a favorite of the Obamas). On this tour, you’ll get your deep-dish craving satisfied and you’ll get to experience some of the best non-deep dish joints in the city, including one of my favorites, Coal Fire.

For those of you partial to Chicago-style deep dish pizza, check out Slice of Chicago Pizza Tours. This company takes you to some of the most famous deep dish joints in town and, it’s a walking tour so you won’t fall into a pizza coma when you’re done with your journey.

Don’t forget to wear your Pizza Fight t-shirt as you explore Chicago’s pizza scene.

When I started thinking about creating a pizza-themed t-shirt I wasn't sure what the design should look like. I knew I wanted to do something comparing Chicago and New York-style pizza but I couldn't decide if they should be friends or enemies. Should the the Chicago slice of pizza battle or should they be friends (similar to my hope that someday Chicagoans will be fans of the Cubs and White Sox)?

To help us decide, we posted a poll asking you if the two types of pizza could live together in harmony or if they would always be at odds. Pizza fight won out over the more friendly option and just last week we released the Pizza Fight T-Shirt.

Frederick Heidbrink, a freelance designer and illustrator put the design together for us. He shared in our enthusiasm about the shirt (and pizza) and soon the word "epic"was being tossed around. Epic indeed...

10% of every Pizza Fight T-Shirt is donated to the Anti-Cruelty Society. Whenever I see all of the cute little animals at the Anti-Cruelty Society I want to do something to help them. I can't have pets in my apartment and this is my way of helping out.

What side of the pizza debate are you on? Deep dish or thin? Chicago or New York?

We asked you what type of pizza t-shirt you would like to see, friends or foes, and you responded saying that a thick slice and thin slice could never live together. Fast forward one month to today; we are currently working on a new t-shirt that will pin New York style thin slice pizza versus Chicago thick slice pizza in the epic battle of which city has true slice. In the upcoming weeks, as we put the finishing touches on our next four t-shirts, we are going to give you all a glimpse into the future by posting details about the upcoming t-shirts.

So, to kick things off, here is the first rough draft that our designer, Frederick Heidbrink, has put together for the Pizza Throwdown t-shirt.

Hey! Look, it's March 1st everybody! Soon the trees will bud with little bits of green, ice cream parlors will open for the season and there's even a chance of wearing a t-shirt outside without the usual massive down parka. Other than being one more day closer to spring, today means that our New York vs Chicago Style Pizza poll is closed and we are excited to announce which t-shirt came out on top.

The pizza t-shirt design that received the most votes was Foe! There's only one real slice, but by a very narrow margin (52% to 48%). Chicagoans love their pizza and judging from the comments posted over the past week, they are not afraid to let us know on which side of the crust they stand.

Thanks to everybody who voted and left a comment. Our next order of business here will be getting a great artist to bring the pizza fight image to life. If you are an artist or designer and have a good idea for the t-shirt please drop us a line here.

And lastly, for those of you who left a comment, we did the drawing for a free Chicago vs. New York style pizza t-shirt and we are excited to announce that Jason Shanley (@cinchel) will be the recipient of the very first t-shirt off the production line.

Congratulations, Jason!

Three years ago I was living in the wonderful city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. As cool as MPLS is, I had to get out and explore a new city. I had job offers in both Chicago and New York and I had a hard time deciding where my new home away from home would be. To help me decide, I sat down with a friend and created a list of positives and negatives of each city.

A big difference between Chicago and New York is the pizza. Of course, pizza was not the deciding factor, however I remember it being an important line item. Pizza is part of their identities and I love both styles and both cities.

Thin vs. Thick or Thin + Thick. Fight or love? What do you think? Each person is very passionate about their preferred style. One of our next shirts is going to be pizza focused and we can’t decide if we should have a slice of thick and thin crust fighting (perhaps a street fight scene?) or being friends (holding hands walking into the sunset?). So, we’re throwing it out to you. Vote, leave a comment, let us know what you think.

If you leave a comment you will be eligible to win the first Chicago/New York pizza t-shirt. We will do the drawing Monday March 1st and announce the winner Wednesday March 3rd. So spread the word, tweet and tell your friends.

This poll will be open until Sunday, Feb. 28

Update: The Chicago vs New York pizza t-shirt is complete and available for $17 right here. Get it while its pipping hot.
