If you’re anything like me, a few of your t-shirts likely have stains and/or holes. I’m not very crafty, but was inspired when one of our supporters brought her Anchored tee to us at the Hester Street Fair to show us how she repaired a little hole in her shirt with a super cute heart.

Minnesota T-Shirt Love

You might not know it, but Katie and I both are products of the Midwest – Minnesota to be exact – and being in New York has made us a little homesick. We’ve taken that feeling of distance and used it to create a new batch of Minnesota inspired t-shirts. These shirts are particularly close to our hearts because they’re about home – the designs reflect some of the things and places that we love most about Minnesota:

Hot Dish: The unofficial food of Minnesotans, read up it here
Duluth: Port of America
Uptown: The neighborhood that’s so cool you’ve probably never heard of it
Music: The phat beats that bounce between Minneapolis and St. Paul

As the holiday season approaches, we’ll be spending quite a bit of time at home and we couldn’t be more excited. Especially now that we have these sweet tees to wear around to show our pride.

New Kids Panda Tees

Our new shipment of kids tees arrived on our doorstep this afternoon. We now have the Scared Panda Logo, DJ Panda and Free Ridin’ Panda tees in three kids sizes – 2T, 3T and 4T. Take a look at these little shirts. How cute are these?!

Spending A Rainy Day Inside

We planned on spending today pimping t-shirts in Gramercy, but Mr. All Day Thunderstorm has other plans. So instead we’re hanging out listening to the relaxed piano moods of Hazel Scott, making challah bread french toast and emailing a few special Chicago boutiques to get interest in some of our Chicago t-shirts.

Sewing Lessons

Last weekend Katie’s mom was in New York and between taking in the sites she schooled us in the ways of the sewing machine. Now, every one of of our shirts will comes with a hem tag of our logo sewn to the bottom left of each shirt. The next time someone asks you where you got such a bichn’ tee all you have to do is point to the hem tag.

Pandas, Trains And Automobiles

Hey folks. I’m excited to tell you about two new t-shirts we are printing. Both were designed by the awesome Razvan Anghelache. Apparently we were going through a New York City transit period when we came up with these.

The NYC Taxi t-shirt was inspired by all the times a cab zoomed past us and we’ve thought about slapping a Scared Panda sticker on the side. The look is a little beat up and scratched, not unlike a New York City cab.

When we’re not chasing cabs around, we take the subway. It’s part of our daily lives so we thought it would be cool to create a t-shirt that reminds us of the busy stops in New York. Similar to all of the trains that pass through Union Square, ideas and experiences pass through us at Scared Panda.

We just sent the designs off to our printer, Replica, so they should be done and ready for wearing in the next couple weeks. Let us know what you think.

A Bunch Of New Tees

Once we got settled into our new jobs and apartment here in New York we finally got the time to start working on a few new t-shirts. Of the new t-shirts we came up with are Indie Rock Panda(girls & guys), Gloom Buster, Anchored, Free Ridin’ Panda and the much anticipated Hold The Ketchup reprint – on organic cotton I might add. With these new tees, just like with all of them, this new batch has a story or a special meaning behind each and every one. Sorry about the overall quality of the t-shirt pictures, I was pretty excited to get them online yesterday.

Indie Rock Panda

I want a stoop. I want a stoop to sit on, hang out and just jam. Unfortunately my building doesn’t have a stoop for us to chill out on and I can’t play the guitar. Luckily, in my imagination I can do both. That’s where this new design comes in. We call it ‘Indie Rock Panda’ or ‘Folk Singer Panda’, not quite sure what to go with yet. But it’s going to be one of those choices.

New York City is notorious for brownstones, stoops and of course some of the best indie bands in the world. This t-shirt design is inspired by all those who hang out on the stoops of New York City and play music for the rest of us as we pass by.

The artist responsible for making my imagination come to life is Razvan Anghelache. Razvan is great and we will talk more about him once the design is completed. In the meantime, check out his bio.

Panda Friday: Vespa Panda Design

Normally Friday’s are Panda Friday’s, but I couldn’t wait to post this new design that we’ve got. I know that we posted the Vespa Panda design to Facebook a couple days ago, but after seeing how much everyone loves it – I got stoked to write more about it.

Even though I’ve never ridden around the city on a moped, I think cities and Vespa’s go together perfectly. Like Forest & Jenny or peas ‘n carrots. They’re small, agile, allow you to weave in and out of traffic and in a city like New York where parking is non-existent; you can park it on the sidewalk. An essential form of transportation no matter where in the world you are. Whenever I see someone cruising around town they are usually zipping through traffic or hauling down a side street like they have no care in the world. I imagined this design to encapsulate that face into the wind, free and happy feeling you get when riding around on a scooter. Someday I’ll get on one and experience it for myself.

We’ve been working on this Vespa panda design over the last couple weeks with help from the awesome designers Di.Jay. Di.Jay is a great artistic duo out of Spain and really nailed the Vespa design. We’ll tell you some more about them and some of their other work as soon as the t-shirt is finalized.

Here we went with two prototypes – the first one has some red and is also the print we decided on printing on the new tee. The second is a two color print and blends nicely into the t-shirt. Even though we are printing the red scooter t-shirt I wanted to show you the two color print because I think it’s really good too.

So, there ya have it. Just one of the new t-shirt designs that we’ve been working on. We expect our new tees to be printed and ready to buy in the next month. What do you think? Do you like this design?
